The Bedford compresses a facing booth to the smallest unit that still seats two adults comfortably: 48 in (122 cm) wide by 60 in (152 cm) deep, including the table. Each seat is 30 in (76 cm) long for a single guest, with a 48 in (122 cm) back that comes up to ear height.
The capacity case. On a 20 ft window wall, loose two-tops with chairs fit about three tables, because each table needs clearance for chairs on both sides. Bedford units can sit edge to edge along the same wall and fit four, so two more guests on the same footprint, and every one of them in a booth.
Construction. Two rigid seat boxes joined by a common base, reinforced backs, high-resilience seats, table fixed to the base or wall.
Where it works. Window lines, narrow cafes, ramen and noodle bars, wine bars, any room where two-tops make up a large share of covers.
Options. Unit width and depth, back height, table top material, upholstery.
